La habitación del ático- The attic room

Cuando empecé a hacer miniaturas, mi método de aprendizaje era el de “Ensayo y error”. No es que haya dejado de utilizarlo, pero al menos ahora cometo menos errores, hasta el punto de que es raro que esté atascada con una escena o con un problema mucho tiempo.

When I started making miniatures, my method of learning was "Trial and Error". I haven't stopped using it, but at least now, I make fewer mistakes, to the point of being unusual to be stuck with a scene or a problem long.

Sin embargo la escena que hoy os traigo me ha dado un montón de quebraderos de cabeza. La dejé varias veces y finalmente la he terminado con éxito este mes.

But the scene that I bring you today has given me a lot of headaches. I give it up several times and finally I have finished it successfully this month.

Para las paredes laterales y el suelo he utilizado unos tableros de MDF. Después he aplicado masilla plástica tapa-grietas con una plantilla para hacer los ladrillos.

Para la pared del fondo, la cual es inclinada y además lleva una ventana, he utilizado cartón pluma de 1 cm. Como el cartón se comba si se pone en contacto con algo húmedo, he aplicado la masilla tapa-grietas sobre un papel de acuarelas con la medida exacta de la pared para pegarlo a ella posteriormente.

Para que la masilla no se descascarille, he aplicado un par de capas de Alkil y después he pintado con colores rojizos.

For the lateral walls and the floor I used three MDF boards. Then, I applied plastic filler filler crack putty with a bricks template.
For the inclined wall, which has a window I used foam board 1 cm thick.
As the cardboard bend if it gets in contact with something wet, I applied filler crack putty with the bricks template on a watercolor paper with the accurate measurement of the wall to stick to it later.
For the putty not to crumble, I applied a couple of coats of Alkil ( lastic varnish) and then I painted with reddish colors.

Por fuera he aplicado masilla de carpintero como si fuera revoque ajado por el tiempo.

Outside I applied sawdust plaster  aged by the time.

Os muestro en estas fotografías las variaciones que esta habitación ha sufrido, fruto de las dudas, pues aunque la estructura estaba clara ya que quería hacer un pequeño estudio con el techo inclinado, lo que me ha dado tantos quebraderos de cabeza ha sido el aire de la estancia.

I show you here some variations of the room, result of doubts, because although the structure was clear and I wanted to do a small study with a sloping roof, the atmosphere has given me so many headaches.

Finalmente, he pintado el suelo de blanco y la pared de ladrillos con rosa fuerte, rosa pálido y verde, y sobre ella he puesto una estantería blanca.

Finaly, I painted the floor white and the bricks wall pink, light pink and green, and I made a white shelf.

El techo está hecho con cartón pluma y tiene cortado el hueco de tres claraboyas alineadas.
En la cara interior está forrado con madera de balsa y tiene un entramado de bigas.
En la cara exterior, lo he recubierto con unas falsas losas de pizarra que he utilizado en varias ocasiones y aquí podéis recordar cómo están hechas.

The roof is made with foam board and has cut the space of three skylights.
The inside surface is lined with balsa wood and has a framework of beams.
Outside, I have coated the surface with fake slate tiles, technique that I have used on several occasions, and here you can remember the process.

He puesto un trozo de cartón corrugado para ocultar el interruptor de la luz. Esta pintado imitando uralita, y es un elemento que ya utilicé y expliqué en la escena “ Un baño de libro”

I put a piece of corrugated cardboard to hide the light switch. It is painted imitating uralita, and it is an element that I already used and explained in this scene.

Hice una lámpara utilizando alambre, unas piezas de bisutería, y tres microLEDs.

I made the lamp using wire, some pieces of jewelry and three microLEDs

Hice una cama de alambre con unos camafeos soldados. 

I made a wire bed with two cameos welded.

La mesita está hecha con un adorno de madera y unas patas de alambre soldadas.

The side table is made with a wood ornament and three soldered legs.

Pinté una alfombra y añadí otros detalles: un adorno en la ventana hecho con un pendiente, una bandeja con un vaso de leche y unas pastas, un jarrón con flores, libros, cuadros...

I painted the rug and added some other details: a window ornament made of an earring, a tray with a cup of milk and some biscuits, a vase with flowers, some books, some pictures...

...incluso una tabla suelta del suelo, bajo la cual se esconde un secreto.

...even a loose board of the floor to hide a secret under it.

He adornado la habitación para la ocasión.

I have decorated the room for the ocasión.

Una escena para Carmen- A scene for Carmen

La escena que hoy os traigo, es sumamente sencilla de realizar. A pesar de ello, yo he tardado seis meses en terminarla, pero ha sido porque me puse a hacerla, nada más saber que una amiga estaba embarazada. Me embargó tal alegría por ella que me ha parecido un embarazo larguísimo.

The scene that I bring you today, it is extremely simple to perform. However, it took me six months to complete it, but it was because I started it just knowing that one of my lovely friend was pregnant. I was so happy for her that it seemed to me a very long pregnancy.

Primero hice la camita. Utilicé alambre galvanizado y unos pequeños camafeos. Soldé la estructura y añadí flores y hojas de papel. Para pintarlo primero tuve que aplicar imprimación para metales y después pintura acrílica y barniz protector. No he hecho una cuna porque no quería ponerle barrotes, (me dan mal rollo) pero es algo fácil de hacer si seguís mi tutorial para soldar alambre.

First, I made a little bed. I used galvanized wire and small cameos. I soldered the structure and added flowers and leaves of paper. After that, I painted it first with primer and then with acrylic and  protective varnish. I didn't want to make a crib  because I didn't want to put bars (give me bad vibes) but it is easy to do if you follow my tutorial for welding wire

Hice el colchón y la almohada y vestí la cama con tela de una blusa gastada. La mantita es un trozo de jersey con unos lunares pintados.

I did the mattress the pillow and I dressed the bed with a worn cloth blouse. The blanket is a piece of a sweater with painted polka dots.

Forré el suelo con listones de madera y lo teñí de color roble.

I covered the ground with wooden slats dyed in oak color.

Monté las dos paredes y el suelo mediante canutillo. La pared derecha la forré completamente de madera y a la del fondo le hice un friso de madera. Pinté de beige y envejecí ligeramente con betún de Judea y cera.

I assembled the two walls and the floor using brocheta sticks. 
The right wall is completely lined with wooden boards and the other wall has a wooden frieze. I painted both in beige and slightly grew old with Judea bitumen and wax.

Cuando empecé la escena no sabía si sería niño o niña, de modo que opté por un papel dulce y neutro.

When I started this scene I did not the sex of the baby, so I chose a sweet and neutral wallpaper.

Hice una estructura de cartón pluma a modo de pequeño techo inclinado o una estructura de una escalera, y lo forré con madera. Dentro iba a estar la pila y el interruptor.

I made with foam board a structure simulating a sloping roof or a staircase structure. and covered it with wood. In going to be the battery and switch.

Las lámparas son botes de cristal con una tira bordada en el interior y unos microleds.

The lamps are miniature glass jars with an embroidered strip inside and Microleds.

El mueble cambiador está pintado y decapado con lijas finas. Le he dado cera virgen y una pizca de betún de Judea.

The baby changing table  is painted and lightly sanded. I gave wax with a bit of bitumen.

Los botes de gel, champú y colonia, están hechos de resina de cristal de dos componentes teñida ligeramente con pintura para cristal y vertida sobre unas cápsulas vacías.

The jars of gel, shampoo and cologne are made with glass resin painted lightly and poured over some empty capsules.

Hice un móvil con un charm con forma de ángel, y algunas cuentas de colores.

I made a mobile with an agel charm and some colorful beads.

Para hacer los pañales, arrugué un pañuelo de papel y le puse unas tiras de celofán.
Por la otra parte he dibujado los pañales con una plantilla, y tras cortarlos, con una cinta adhesiva de colores he sellado las cinturas.

To make the diapers, I wrinkled a tissue paper and put some strips of cellophane.
On the other side I drew diapers with a template, and after cutting, I have sealed the waists  with colored tape.

Con una contraventana del tipo de las Mallorquinas hice una estantería con una sola balda donde descansan algunos botes, y se pueden poner algunas fotos y recuerdos.

I did a bookcase with one shelf with a shutter for jars, pictures and memories.

Finalmente hice algunos detalles más, un marco para poner fotos, una caja de pañales, un calentador de biberones, un chupete, un pequeño teatro, un vestido...y por su puesto un montón de fotos de la pequeña Carmen y su familia.

Finally I did some more details, a framework for putting pictures, a box of diapers, a baby bottles warmer, a dummy, a small theater, a dress ... and of course lots of photos of Carmen and her family.
