Baúl medieval. Calendario de Adviento 2017 - Medieval trunk. 2017 Advent Calendar

Hola otra vez.

Hello again. We continue with the Advent calendar promoted by Matxtalen for this year 2017.
If the project that I proposed to you on day 7 seemed simple to you, today you will find it even easier: a medieval trunk that I made for my Tudor style house.

As always, I have drawn the different parts using a sheet of paper measured in millimeters. I have made a file to download the furniture template, by clicking on the next image.
I used 2mm thick wood because it was the one I had, I think with a slightly thicker wood it would look better, less refined for the medieval time.

Once the wood is cut, always taking into account the direction of the grain, I have used a Solid-point burner to decorate the surfaces, since it is much easier than carving.
The top is decorated inside and outside.

He teñido las maderas de color roble y he ido pegando por este orden.
Parte frontal con lateral y fondo. Después el otro lateral.

I have dyed the oak colored woods and I have been sticking in this order.
Front with one side and bottom. Then the other side.

Aside, I have placed two small hinges on the top and I have attached them to the back of the trunk. This part is delicate, it requires patience and pulse. I make the holes first with a manual mini-drill, and before putting the hinges, I wet the nails in glue. Do not stain the glue hinges, because then they work badly.
These small hinges were golden, but when finally the glue has dried, I painted them with a black indelible marker.

Finally I have glued the back to the rest of the furniture
At first I was going to leave the trunk like this, however, since the project where I am involved is a medieval house, I thought I should add some ornaments like big hinges and iron brackets. I made them with the metallic band of a bottle of wine.

As you can see the project is easy, and a good excuse to start with pyrography, which also has its charm.
I wish you a Merry Christmas and a new year full of good projects and above all, a lot of health!
A warm hug and thank you very much for your attention.

¡Precioso!
