This scene represents a little room with a gambrel roof. The bed is built in and invites to nestle in. The room has a modern atmosphere although it is compounded with elements from the past.

First, I made a gap into the MDF floor with carving tools. Then I ensambled the three boards.

I made the structure of the gambrel roof with 1 cm thick foam board to hide the electric system inside of it.
I lined the walls and floor with boards, leaving the board that cover the gap loose.

I painted the walls white, the floor oak and aged them with Judea bitumen.
I saw a beautiful decorative idea here, so I draw the carpet on the floor with a pastel pencil, then I painted with acrylics and when it dried I cleaned the pencil with a wet rag.

I made the bed structure and painted it white. I applied wax with a bit of bitumen to give it a rustic and restored look.

This type of bed appeared at the end of the Middle Ages in central and northern Europe.
They were very popular as they were very warm and allowed some privacy because in those days almost everything was in the same room.
Originally the bed was placed at a certain height, and the space under it used to keep birds during the cold days of winter. This space ended up becoming a wardrobe.
Although they were more typical in rustic houses, but in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries they became finely crafted and often polychromed and they became a status symbol.
They disappeared in the early twentieth century because they were expensive and had a bad ventilation.

Following the designs of Peter Hunt, I painted a desk, which is definitely the star of this scene.
I created a board in Pinterest about it.The pity is that many of the links are broken.

Peter Hunt was born in New Jersey and was very popular between the 30's and 50's in the XX century because he create a personal style but with lot of influence of the european folk art.
These were the years of the Great Depression, the Second World War and later the early stages of the the Cold War.
Given the harsh living conditions of the population, he arranged to make fashionable recover old furniture painting it to get a new look.
He wrote a book called "Peter Hunt's Workbook" (Iberlibro and Amazon) where he shows how to paint furniture with easy and beautiful designs.

Almost all the book is in black and white, apart from a few pages with some pictures.
If you are interested in his biography, visit this web page. It seems to me that he was an interesting man, full of talents, excentric and a bit lear.

I made three lamps whith some decorated birds houses, the cables, the battery and the switch are hiden inside the roof

Some more details are added like a simple side table next to the bed and a reading lamp with battery.

A paint-stripped shutter with wax were it is possible to put photographs and accesories...

Finally, some pictures, a nest with little egs, books, flowers, a modern folding chair, a guitar...and the secrets hiden in the gap under the boarded floor.

Y este es el resultado
And this is the result

As always, I want to thak you your attention and time
A warm hug
