Casa Tudor. Parte II. Tudor house. Part II

In the last post, I showed you the complete process to build a Tudor stile dollhouse from a kit of Greenleaf Dollhouse. If you remember, I painted the walls with frescos inspired by the motives of the medieval tiles of the East of Spain called Socarrat.

Refering to the furnitures and rooms, in the grounf floor you can see the dining room and kitchen with fireplace. I have made two pieces of furniture in Tudor stile and put their under the windows.

The design of the left was common in churchs to keep the liturgy stuff. The right piece of furniture is a cupboard that used to be hanged to preserve better the food. So as not to cover de wall paintings I decided to place it on the floor.

Me he tomado algunas licencias cronológicas con respecto a algunos muebles.

I took some chronological liberties with respect to the furnitures. For instance, the refectory table and benches dated in 1860 like the hallchair are kits from Arjen Spinhoven wich are designed in the mid-nineteenth century following the idea of medieval furnitures. So that these are Neo-tudor designs.

Given the lack of space to place more furnitures, I hanged above the refectory table, a pan hanging rack with some stuff.

The fireplace has all kind of accesories, and on the mantel there is an English Bible Box from 1650 with floral wood carvings. This tipe of boxes were very popular in the XVII century in Europe. This model is also a kit from Arjen Spinhoven.

The bedroom is in the second floor.
There, we can find the six board chest, an indispensable piece of furniture of all medieval houses. In this case is pyrographied like the bed.

The bed is dressed with muslin and an embroidered bedspread in white ald gold with one of the motifs that appears on the Tristan and Isolda tapestry of the Palazzo Davanzati in Florence

The side table is a single tudor design so as not to overdecorate the room.

The chair is a a Savonarola chair based on the roman chair called Curul but with backrest. This type of chair was very extended at the end of the Middle Ages, and it was very popular in the Renaissance although it has been used later. They used to be carved or inlaid with ivory or other woods. This is also a kit of Arjen Spinhoven.

Just to have fun, since it was not a popular object, I made a portable toilet taking as reference one used by Henry VIII

With the help of the book of Brian Long that I mentioned in the last post and some medieval pictures, I made a wash stand dated in the XVI century.

In the next post, I will upload this furniture plans and instructions. Minwhile, I invite yo to follow me on Instagram due to the fact that you can see the processes in real time.
