For a long time I wanted to do a scene about a romantic painter.
I chose the French painter Pierre-Paul Prud'hon, not only for his tragic life, his tormented spirit, elegant portraits and paintings, but also for his drawings. His extraordinary nudes full of beauty thanks to the delicacy of the velvet chiaroscuro and anatomical realism.
First I cut a corner of one of the diorama boards and I assembled the three boards using brochette sticks and I cover the floor with wood.
I drew on the walls the shape and dimensions of the wood panels and glued them using different wood frame strips..
With foam board I made the sides and ceiling of the scene. I also placed a window and covered the walls with wood.
I dyed the floor oak color, and covered the entire structure from the outside with wood.
Then I dyed again the floor with mahogany color because it gives a nice warmth to the wood.
Continuing with the abandoned appearance, I applied acrylic paint with a sponge in the window.
I gilded all the frames with gold foil. If you want to remember the technique I recommend this post and this one.
I made the trumeau mirror with some balsa wood boards, a sheet of mirror and an image. Here you have a complete tutorial about mirrors.
To make the canvas, I printed first the images, and protected with a spray varnish. then I glued the images on real canvas and I glued wood stretchets on the back.
To age the paintings I used oak colored varnish, wax and bitumen, scrapbooking inks, etc.
Finally I added some details to get more authenticity, like a pigeon on the window made of paper clay, some drawings on the wall, some painting utensils, lots of paint stains on the floor...
